Open Letter to You, Future Career Changer
Dear Soon-To-Be Career Changer:
You’ve been on my mind and on my heart for quite some time now. In the last few weeks, I’ve thought of you more as my days and evenings have been full with client meetings and resume writing.
You see, even in the midst of the “busy,” I couldn’t have dreamt of this place. So far from my mind in the outset of self-discovery was the “what” I should be doing. That’s the hardest part of the process, and it takes one to know one! I spent 4 years and 10 months trying to figure it out before making my first career change.
I did have a fear holding me back. I was concerned about what others were going to think of me if I left the industry I had been in for so long. At the time of this writing, that feels so silly, but I can assure you it was a real strangle-hold on the forward progress in my career.
Do you know what finally pushed me forward? The pain of staying was greater than the fear of failure by taking a risk.
I’m writing this letter to you now because I know where you are and where you’ve been. So I want to describe to you where you’re headed.
Peace and tranquility will be your days because you’ll be operating in your natural giftedness so that each day seems to fly by. Notice I did not say it will be perfect. We don’t live in a perfect world; therefore, a perfect job does not exist. But I do submit to you that with the use of your strengths, there will be a fluidity to your days.
You will be overwhelmed with the emotion of joy and humility by those whom you help on the other side of your change. Keep them in your vision as you move forward in the process.
Smiles throughout the day will be the norm, especially as you catch yourself loving what you’re doing. You might even begin to think, “I never knew it could be like this.”
Yes, Career Changer, you’ve been on my heart. I want you to hear what I needed to hear:
Take my hand and trust me because we can get clarity on what you really need in order to be fulfilled in your work. Armed with the knowledge of what’s best for you, there will be a direction for you to head toward and I’m right by your side as you cross over the threshold of change into the purpose-driven life that was created just for you.
It would be my privilege and honor to be your Career Coach, but if that does not come to pass, I will simply count myself fortunate to have been one to plant a seed of possibility in your life.
Godspeed,
Michelle
